CFA Lab is a family owned & operated business based in Ashburton, Mid Canterbury.
Established in 1998, the business was purchased in 2021 by Michelle and Rory Boleyn, who are passionate about providing accurate and independent feed analysis to support local farmers.
Alongside running CFA Lab, Michelle and Rory also manage a lease block where they grow feed and run cattle, giving them firsthand knowledge of the industry and the challenges farmers face. Their family includes two daughters, a dog, a flock of chickens, and two pigs – Bert and Ernie, keeping life busy both at work and home!

We provide independent in-field sampling, feed analysis, and dry matter testing for a wide variety of animal feed, ranging from winter feed in situ to cut-and-carry baleage/silage.
In addition to our established services, we are excited to offer soil analysis testing. This service provides comprehensive soil assessments, measuring nutrient levels, pH, organic matter, and other key parameters to help farmers optimise soil health and enhance crop productivity.
At CFA, we take pride in delivering independent, accurate, and rapid assessments, whether engaged by buyers, growers, or contractors. All testing is carried out in our IANZ-accredited laboratory, ensuring rigorous standards and procedures are maintained at all times.
